"Retro" styles, especially designs from the 1950s and 1960s, may be a great alternative to toile and damask patterns when purchasing linens. The prospective parents would prefer to go in for the classic paisley or "shabby chic" baby bedding set collections which incorporate thimein even the most contemporary decorative styles and patterns.

Top 10 Most Common Mistakes in Participating in SEO Contests
In the past few years the SEO contests are popping up in the search engine optimization world like crazy. There are always contests running, and everytime there is a prize to win, sometimes a big one, sometimes a small one. But it doesn't matter in what contest you're participating, you will allways find things that have gone wrong, or could've done better. In this article I point out the top 10 most common mistakes in participating in an SEO contest.
1) The first mistake is the fact that webmasters get so excited when they see a lot of money, that they point links to their contest page from all the pages of their already existing websites. You would have thousands of backlinks in just a few days, which would cause a sandbox penalty. You need to remember that you can allways point those links to your contest page, you are not in a hurry, are you?
2) The second mistake is that people don't plan. You have to make yourself a scheme where you write down what you do every day/week. Make a linkbuilding scheme, a content writing scheme etc. Just make sure that you do what you tell yourself to do.
3) Make short term goals, the long term goal is offcourse the winning of the SEO contest. But if you make short term goals you don't get demotivated and you have offcourse more chance of winning the SEO contest. For example doing 5 article submissions, 40 link directory submissions and write 20 quality pages by the end of may. Or make a goal like this: I will be indexed by the first of may. Or, I will be on the third page in week 5 of the contest.
4) Write content, A lot of people start a contest blog, but they forget to write content. In the beginning you often write a lot of posts, but in the long run you get more focused on backlinks. Remember that content is still king. And if you have it, and others don't, you already have a head start.
5) Quality backlinks over crappy backlinks. A lot of people start by searching for easy backlinks like directories and buying high pagerank links, but you can do that any time you want in the contest. Do that half way, you have all the time! The first thing you do in participating in an SEO contest is writing content and finding topic related backlinks. The crappy backlinks can wait. You are not in a hurry!
6) Article submission, it's easy and really effective, this article is actually written to boost my ranking for the pvmultimedia seo contest. If I wasn't participating, this article would've never been written. The good thing with article submission is that you can decide what the article is about. So in some way you control the onsite optimization of your backlink, so you can make yourself a highly onpage optimized quality backlink that is related to your contest page. You can also use the main contest keyword as much as you like, so right now I'll take the opportunity to use the words pvmultimedia seo contest once more if you don't mind
.
7) Onsite optimization, don't do it!!! Why? very simple, if you can rank yourself to the top without using for instance your main keywords in your title, you have a backup plan, namely your onpage optimization. A few weeks before the contest you can highly optimize your website for the main keyphrase to get a good boost that can get you to the top, or if you already are at the first spot, you made yourself a really more solid position. And onpage optimization is something you can manipulate and control, offpage optimization is a component that can't be manipulated quickly. But make sure you don't overdo your onpage optimization in the end, because that could cause a penalty or even a ban.
Old and wise. If you have a question, would you ask an old wise man or a little boy? Probably the old man, right? Search engines (Dutch translation: zoekmachine) think the same. If a website is new it is less valuable than if there is an old website/domain about the same topic. So stop registering new domains for your contest websites, just use an old one, or a subdomain of an old domain. Maybe you won't have the perfect url, but you do have the perfect age to take advantage from.
9) Authority, like I said before, I'm participating in the pvmultimedia seo contest. On dutch forums there was some discussion about how the hell it was possible that the top 10 for pvmultimedia seo contest was dominated by blogspot blogs. Well, because blogspot is an authority domain, even owned by google itself. Use that authority if you can. Or if you have yourself an authority website it's even better to use that website.
10) Analyse other participants, most people don't look at other participating websites. But if you do take a look at them you can actually find out how they're getting links, how many links they get in a specific period of time, from what websites the links are from, are the links quality topic related high pagerank links? How can I get those links? What do they do with their onpage optimization? etc...
So in fact there are many things you can do or must not do in order to get a chance to win an SEO contest. One last tip from me: start small, if you can win a small/local SEO contest with a small price, you can later on participate in the bigass SEO contests and become rich...

How to Shop For The Ideal Laptop
If you're in the market for a brand new laptop, you'll definitely want to scout around and find the best laptop for your needs. Although notebooks come in all shapes and sizes, the following tips should guide you well enough to find the most perfect laptops all the time.
The first thing you need to be sure of is your laptops's technical specifications. Nothing more, nothing less; exactly what you need to match your activities. For example, you need totally different machine if you're just planning to use it for office purposes, as opposed to letting your notebooks be your entire home entertainment system.
Different applications need different type of laptops, and getting more than what you need is literally a waste of savings. Getting less than what you need on the other hand, will just waste your time and cause frustation.
The first thing you need to consider is the Central Processing Unit or CPU; it is the "brains" of your computer. Generally speaking a faster CPU is better as it will eliminate a lot of loading and processing time, but there is a choice between Intel processors, or others.
The size of your laptop screen and the overall weight is also important. If light and portable is your cup of tea, choose the ones that weight less than 1.2kg - these are usually on the higher price range but it will be worth the money, and the lack of back aches!
Thirdly, and most importantly, the warranty period and service terms for your laptop. Generally speaking most laptops come with standard one-year warranty, but companies like Sony also include "extended" three-year upgrades and on-site repairs. Expect a premium for the "on-site" repairs, but extended warranties are becoming more commonplace and you should look out for for current models that include them at no extra cost.
As for personal choice, I prefer Toshiba laptops, especially the Toshiba Satellite laptop that is both affordable and sufficient for high-end processing. Ideally, your future laptop should be able to last for the next four years before you invest on a new one. Not many laptops can do that though, so shop for your laptop wisely!

Correct stretching for a workout.
Stretching practices can be recognized as a crucial aspect of any fitness training or physical activity; many muscle and joint injuries have been prevented in this manner. Exercising can be further improved by learning some other points related to this. To accelerate your flexibility and to prevent body failure, stretch before and after workout.
Athletes know that stretching before workout avoids injuries, but some people are aware that stretching after Exercising, Have a San Diego sweatshirt on when muscles are still warm, can multiply strength.
While maintaining a posture for just thirty five seconds is enough for after workout stretch, to fully get the benefit when you have completed your training you need to maintain that posture for a complete minute. avoid going into a stretching posture and immediately going back to the calm posture; and, do it over and over which is more often referred to as bouncing while in a posture. Ideally the stretch needs to last a few seconds then a moderate progression because it is very easy to injure joints or even pull muscles when this isn't done correctly. As warm up workout can be viewed in terms of challenge, it is sometimes the best practice to commence with the easiest first and make sure all the muscle are stretched preceding going on to most exercises.
For many people, even when they have strong bodies, they often times not include the neck when exerting yourself because stretching the neck muscles is as simple as placing the palm of one's hand against the front of the head and gently pushing it; after, do the same to the sides and the back of your dome. If you make a habit of regular stretching before working out you definitely will be shocked at just how flexible your body becomes and it will improve your ability to perform certain training. Do not overstretch your muscles doing workouts you aren't yet at the level of just because there are other athletes who can as this will cause further problems; work to your own pace. Always exercise to limits of yourbody on the day, just because before you did a workout doesn't dictate that it will happen all the time so predict that this will happen and don't over-exert yourself.
Best of Patagonia Argentina
To know where to go and what to see depends on your interests and to what degree you are willing to search deep for something out of the ordinary that you may find intriguing. If you have only a short time each year to take a vacation, love to trek and crave to get away to a destination which will capture the essence of the region at large you should consult the insight of a local and the feedback of one that has done the journey you contemplate.
Patagonia is one of those destinations that is a vast territory spanning the Pampa and the Andes mountains of two countries, Argentina and Chile. To get to know it well requires repeat visits and abundant time few may have. So if you wish to sample Patagonia Argentina , where should you go?
All guidebooks to Patagonia note two national parks not to miss, Torres del Paine and Fitz Roy. While one can hike in the southernmost reaches of Tierra del Fuego as well, the central Patagonia lures most of the visitors and these two parks should definitely be at the top of anyone's list.
Most of us shop for airfares and settle for the lowest in price, but the ultimate logistics of your Patagonia travel should be determined by where you plan to visit though at first look political boundaries may suggest otherwise.
While certain parts of Patagonia are easily accessed via either capital city, Buenos Aires or Santiago de Chile, other parts of Patagonia may be more cumbersome to reach if coming from the wrong direction.
Torres del Paine constitutes one of those magnificent destinations which although politically in Chile is easier to visit from Argentina via El Calafate north of the national park and thus should be included in your trip to Patagonia Argentina. If plan to visit Torres del Paine via Santiago the main access point for the park is Puerto Natales south of the park and an easy drive from Punta Arenas, Chile's major airport in Patagonia.
Undeniably rivaling Torres del Paine, the most popular destination in Patagonia Argentina is the Parque Nacional Los Glaciares dominated by the Fitz Roy massif. The park's gateway is the town of El Chalten, easy bus ride some four hours away from El Calafate. To make the best of your trip to this part of South America you should include both parks in your itinerary.
In sheer count the most visited and certainly one of the stunning parts of the Argentine Andes is its Lakes District which spans both sides of the border. San Carlos de Bariloche is the main alpine resort of Argentina and a fashionable and sophisticated town in all respects it is.
If you come to Patagonia to trek and plan to visit Bariloche you should not miss a trek in the Parque Nacional Nahuel Huapi, the oldest of Argentina's national parks. A trek to do here is a one through a magnificent region of granite spires and alpine lakes, the Nahuel Huapi Traverse. The trailhead for the trek is the Villa Catedral ski village and the terminus five days later is Puente Lopez.
Anywhere in the Lakes District crossing from Argentina to Chile and vice versa is tempting as well as rewarding. Though the bus journey between the two countries is sunning in its own right, a grand Andean traverse to do is a wonderful trek starting in Argentina that follows the spine of the Andes over Paseo de las Nubes with fantastic panorama of Monte Tronador to the west, then crosses the frontier over Paseo de Perez Rosales and finally descends to Peulla in Chile.
There are certainly more than enough options for trips and hikes elsewhere in Patagonia Argentina, and plenty to consider in the same region in Chile, but focusing on Fitz Roy and the Lakes District out of Bariloche is a great place to start.
A guide to Photography and its History
Photography is the result of combining several technical discoveries . Long before the first photographs were made, Chinese philosopher Mo Ti described a pinhole camera in the 5th century, Albertus Magnus discovered silver nitrate and Georges Fabricius discovered silver chloride. Daniel Barbaro described a diaphragm in 1568. Wilhelm Homberg described how light darkened some chemicals (photochemical effect) in 1694. The fiction book Giphantie, published in 1760, by French author Tiphaigne de la Roche, described what can be interpreted as photography.
Photography as a usable process goes back to the 1820s with the development of chemical photography. The first fixed photograph was an image produced in 1825 by the French inventor Nicéphore Niépce. However, because his pictures took so long to expose, he sought to find a new process. Working with Louis Daguerre, they experimented with silver compounds based on a Johann Heinrich Schultz discovery in 1724 that a silver and chalk mixture darkens when exposed to light. Niépce died in 1833, but Daguerre continued the work, eventually culminating with the development of the daguerreotype in 1837. Daguerre took the first ever photo of a person in 1839 when, while taking a daguerreotype of a Paris street, a pedestrian stopped for a shoe shine, long enough to be captured by the long exposure (several minutes). Eventually, France agreed to pay Daguerre a pension for his formula, in exchange for his promise to announce his discovery to the world as the gift of France, which he did in 1839.
Meanwhile, Hercules Florence had already developed a very similar process in 1832, naming it Photographie and William Fox Talbot had earlier discovered another means to fix a silver process image but had kept it secret. After reading about Daguerre's invention, Talbot refined his process so that portraits were made readily available to the masses. By 1840, Talbot had invented the calotype process, which deliveres negative images. John Herschel made many contributions to the new methods. He invented the cyanotype process, now familiar as the "blueprint". He was the first to use the terms "photography", "negative" and "positive". He discovered sodium thiosulphate solution to be a solvent of silver halides in 1819, and informed Talbot and Daguerre of his discovery in 1839 that it could be used to "fix" pictures and make them permanent. He made the first glass negative in late 1839.
In March 1851, Frederick Scott Archer shared his findings in "The Chemist" on the wet plate collodion process. This became the most widely used process between 1852 and the late 1880s when the dry plate was introduced. There are three subsets to the Collodion process; the Ambrotype (positive image on glass), the Ferrotype or Tintype (positive image on metal) and the negative which was printed on Albumen or Salt paper.
Many advances in photographic glass plates and printing were made in through the nineteenth century. In 1884, George Eastman developed the technology of film to replace photographic plates, leading to the technology used by film cameras today.
In 1908 Gabriel Lippmann won the Nobel Laureate in Physics for his process of reproducing colours photographically based on the phenomenon of interference, also known as the Lippmann plate.
Processes
Monochrome Images
Photographs in the beginning were always produced in black and white and after colour films were made widely available, the commercial photographer carried on using black and white images due the lower costs and classy look.
It is important to note that some black and white pictures are not always pure blacks and whites, but also contain other hues depending on the process. The Cyanotype process produces an image of blue and white for example. The albumen process which was used more than 150 years ago had brown tones.
Many photographers continue to produce some black and white images. Some full colour digital images are processed using a variety of techniques to create black and whites, and some cameras have even been produced to exclusively shoot monochrome.
Colour
Colour photography was explored at the beginning in the mid 1800s. Early tests in colour could not fix the photograph and prevent the colour from fading. The first permanent colour photo was taken in 1861 by the physicist James Clerk Maxwell.
Early colour photographs were taken by Prokudin-Gorskii (1915). One of the early methods of taking colour photos was to use three cameras. Each camera would have a colour filter in front of the lens. This method provides the photographer with the three basic channels required to recreate a colour picture in a darkroom or processing facility . Russian photographer Sergei Mikhailovich Prokudin-Gorskii developed another technique, with three colour plates taken in quick succession.
A practical application of the method was held back by the very limited colour response of early film, however, in the early 1900s, following the work of photo-chemists such as H. W. Vogel, emulsions with adequate sensitivity to green and red light at last became available.
The first colour plate, Autochrome, developed by the French Lumière brothers, reached the market in 1907. It was based on a 'screen-plate' filter made of dyed dots of potato starch, and was the only colour film on the market until German Agfa introduced the similar Agfacolor in 1932. In 1935, American Kodak introduced the first modern ('integrated tri-pack') colour film which was developed by Polish constructor Jan Szczepanik. It was Kodachrome, based on three coloured emulsions. This was followed in 1936 by Agfa's Agfacolor Neue. Unlike the Kodachrome tri-pack process, the colour couplers in Agfacolor Neue were integral with the emulsion layers, which greatly simplified the film processing . Most contemporary colour films, except Kodachrome, are based on the Agfacolor Neue technology. Instant colour film was introduced by Polaroid in 1963.
Colour photography may form images as a positive transparency, intended for use in a slide projector or as colour negatives intended for use in creating positive colour prints on specially coated paper. The latter is now the most common form of film (non-digital) colour photography owing to the introduction of mechanical photo printing equipment.
Full spectrum photography ultraviolet and infrared
Ultraviolet and infrared films have been available for some time and employed in a variety of photographic avenues since the 1960s. New technological developments in digital photography have opened a new direction in full spectrum photography, where careful filtering choices across the ultraviolet, visible and infrared lead to new artistic visions.
Modified digital cameras can display some ultraviolet light and all of the visible and much of the near infrared spectrum. As most digital imaging sensors are sensitive from about 350 nm to 1000 nm. An off-the-shelf digital camera contains an infrared hot mirror filter that blocks most of the infrared and a bit of the ultraviolet that would otherwise be detected by the sensor, narrowing the accepted range from about 400 nm to 700 nm. Replacing a hot mirror or infrared blocking filter with an infrared pass or a wide spectrally transmitting filter allows the camera to detect the wider spectrum light at greater sensitivity. Without the hot-mirror, the red, green and blue (or cyan, yellow and magenta) coloured micro-filters placed over the sensor elements pass varying amounts of ultraviolet (blue window) and infrared (primarily red, and somewhat lesser the green and blue micro-filters).
Uses of full spectrum photography are for fine art photography, geology, forensics and law enforcement and even some claimed use in ghost hunting.
Digital Photography
The Nikon D1 was the first DSLR to truly compete with and begin to replace, film cameras in the professional photojournalism and sports photography fields and was the start of something very new.
Photography as it was, stopped the commercial photographer from operating effectively while out on a shoot by not offering quick and easy access to developing laboratories to process film, added to that was the rivalry from television that put more pressure on the snapper to get results to newspapers quickly.
Press and News photographers at remote locations often carried miniature photo labs and a means of transmitting images through telephone lines. In 1981, Sony unveiled the first widely available camera to use a charge-coupled device for imaging, eliminating the need for film: the Sony Mavica. While the Mavica saved images to disk, the images were displayed on television and the camera was not fully digital. In 1990, Kodak unveiled the DCS 100, the first commercially available digital camera. Although its high cost precluded uses other than photojournalism and professional photography, commercial digital photography was born.
Digital imaging uses an electronic image sensor to record the image as a set of electronic data rather than as chemical changes on film. The main difference between digital and chemical photography is that chemical photography resists manipulation because it involves film and photographic paper, while digital imaging is a highly manipulative medium. This difference allows for a degree of image post-processing that is comparatively difficult in film-based photography and permits different communicative potentials and applications.
Digital consumer cameras have become widespread public products, outselling film cameras and including new features such as video and audio recording. Kodak announced back in January 2004 that it would no longer sell reloadable 35 mm cameras in western Europe, Canada and the United States after the end of that year. Kodak was at that time a minor player in the reloadable film cameras market. In January 2006, Nikon followed suit and announced that they will stop the production of all but two models of their film cameras: the low-end Nikon FM10, and the high-end Nikon F6. On May 25, 2006, Canon announced they will stop developing new film SLR cameras. Though most new camera designs are now digital, a new 6x6cm/6x7cm medium format film camera was introduced in 2008 in a co-operation between Fuji and Voigtländer.
According to research made by Kodak in 2007, 75 percent of professional photographers say they will continue to use film, even though some embrace digital.
According to the U.S. survey results, more than two-thirds (68 percent) of professional photographers prefer the results of film to those of digital for certain applications including:
- film's superiority in capturing more information on medium and large format films (48 percent);
- creating a traditional photographic look (48 percent);
- capturing shadow and highlighting details (45 percent);the wide exposure latitude of film (42 percent); and
- archival storage. (38 percent)
Digital pictures has raised many ethical concerns because of the ease of manipulating digital photographs in post processing. Many snappers have declared they will not crop their pictures, or are forbidden from combining elements of multiple photos to make "illustrations," passing them as real photographs. Today's technology has made picture editing relatively simple for even the novice photographer. However, recent changes of in camera processing allows digital fingerprinting of RAW photos to verify against tampering of digital photos for forensics use.
Camera phones, combined with some photo sharing web sites, have lead the way to a new kind of social photography. But that is a whole new article.
